Notes: Quadratic Formula

To solve a quadratic equation you can use the quadratic formula, which is:

Step 1: Put the quadratic equation into standard form (STD). This is standard form: ax^2 + bx + c = 0
            ^2 means sqaured, ^3 means cubed, and so on.

Step 2: List a, b and c.
EX. x^2 + 4x -2 = 0
a= 1, b= 4, c= -2

Step 3: Write out the quadratic formula then . . .
Step 4: Substitute a, b and c into the quadratic formula.

Step 5: Simplify/solve.

All done!

P.S. If you haven't already, you should memorize the quadratic formula.
