New Geometry Teacher

Hey guys! It sounds like we are getting a new geometry teacher, not Ms. Krasnow. I learned this from Mr. Rose. At first it could have been Mr. Ragent, but now it seems that it is just going to be a totally new person.

See you soon!

ALGEBRA NOTES!

I did it! I scanned and uploaded ALLL of the algebra notes in my note book. You. Are. Welcome. :)
They are all in one big pdf, which you can view below. I had to transfer the pdf to Google docs. You can download it from there, I think. If you want to be shared for viewing, email or text me. Thanks!

Summer Packet Info

Hey guys! Geometry!

Here is some stuff from the summer packet we got at the end of the year:

You will be more successful if you . . .
- are very organized
- keep old notes
- complete all homework on time
- meet and work with study groups regularly
- communicate (specifically email) teacher often to get help
- take full responsibility for their understanding of the material

The supplies you need are . . .
- a scientific calculator which has trig functions(sine, cosine, tangent, etc.)
- a thin set of at least 5 colored markers for labeling diagrams (recommended: Staedtler, Paper Mate, Flair 0.3 mm)
- a high quality metal compass (recommended: Staedtler)
- a protractor
- a ruler
- a binder with 5 dividers exclusively for geometry class
- graph paper
- at least 50 sheets of unlined 8x11.5 colored paper, all of a single color [ we may want to get a multicolored ream to split, each person gets a color ]

Some things I noticed while reading the packet . . .
- we are not required to have a graphing calculator
- we are not allowed to use cell phones as calculators
- you can't get full credit on homework if there are errors in problems (!)
- if you score a 2 or 1 on any exam, you are required to get weekly tutoring until the next exam and are required to come in after school to retake that exam
- you are required to have all materials on first day of school

I can't wait to see you guys at school! I hope we can have at least a bit of fun during geometry this year!

Sasha

P.S. Does anyone know how to get the area of a trapezoidal prism???

Today's Work

Hey guys! So I don't know whether we are supposed to do today's class work that we did in Ms. Z's class as HW. What I would suggest to all of you is to do a couple, or all, of the "What's My Rule?" problems. I'm guessing that for the squares and rectangle things, since we haven't already learned it, we will learn more about it tomorrow. Also, I am guessing that this is probably just some work he had us do so that he didn't have to make a lesson, since we weren't going to have someone teaching us.

Bottom Line: Do as many problems as you can and want and we'll find out more tomorrow!

:)

Curious Number Patterns

Hey guys! Today we worked on Curious Number Patterns. Here are my notes:
I hope that is all readable. For the HW, you were just supposed to finish fig 4 and 5, then find the "rule" or "formula", which is what would be the answer for fig x.

CST Information

Hey guys! I have a post for you today, with some information regarding the CSTs. I hope this answers any questions you have.

1. The CSTs don't effect your grades. Once you get to high school though, that is what colleges will be looking at when you apply. Also, your CSTs are recorded and if administration sees that you are having A LOT of trouble, they may intervene with a tutor. But they don't effect your HOW and SBP grades.

2. If you are in the Honors Algebra class, you will be taking the Algebra CST math test. You will still do the test in your 1st period (or assigned) class.

3. You are taking the CSTs in your first period class. On Monday and Tuesday, you will be doing the Reading portions of the CST and on Wednesday and Thursday you will be doing the math portions.

Friday is Spring Day!
